I think you've garbled the logic here. She didn't pay more for the windblows machine, she paid more for incompetence. I would wager that an Intel or AMD machine running linux by a person of competence would be cheaper than a Mac anyday. Now, I'm open to info about Mac costs since I've sort of gathered a bias against them due to price that I really must admit doesn't appear founded on any facts I can pull out of my head. So here's a question... I recently bought a new desktop machine (end of July) that cost me $1150 CAD with the following specs (I picked and chose what I wanted at a component level but the nice shop guys put it together as part of their warranty package): AMD Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition 2.5GHz Quad-Core AM2 Processor 2 * Seagate 7200.11 1TB 7200RPM 32MB SATAII Hard Drive Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H AMD780G AM2/AM2+ ATX Mainboard (Audio/LAN) 4 * OCZ Reaper 2Gb DC PC2-8500 DDR2 Memory Kit (CrossFire Edition) LG GSA-H55L 20X IDE LightScribe DVD-RW Drive, Black, OEM Palit Radeon HD2600Pro 512MB DDR2 PCI-E Video Card w/HDMI, Retail Ultra Products Aluminus Tower Case w/700Watt/7 Bays, Black So the question is, can I get a comparable Mac system at the same price point?
