Unfortunately this is a common practice. Sorry to learn there is another organization guilty. Last year I submitted greeting cards which I designed for a Rochester organization, with my photographs and my text to Graphic Design Magazine's contest. It is a well known published magazine of the graphic design industry. The entry fee was $50.00 but I did win an award. Just a piece of paper and an email. Next I learned that to be published in their book as a winner I would have to pay $250.00. I will not be in the book and I have lost respect for the magazine. Even the most reputable contests want rights to your image. It's easy to spot the fraud in an email message from a bank on the other side of the world, more difficult in your own area of expertise. On the bright side, Pini, you got a lot of congratulations from the group. An accomplishment, for sure. It was a good photograph. Report them to artists-bill-of-rights.org You probably gave away the copyright on your image, too.
