Another thing to consider with the resolving power of digital is as I've said before, the standard nyquist limit formula doesn't hold - resolving power is not 1/2 the frequency but more like 1/3 (remember the angles!). so 12Mp can only accurately resolve 4Mp worth of data. add in the resolving power of the lens.. the lowly 35mm format starts looking pretty good against that. but then that limit of resolving power really doesn't mean much either way (film or digital) until you start photographing important detail - for a solid block of colour the factors limiting resolution still apply but the end result would be the same irrespective of resolution/resolving power - you could upsample a 0.1Mp image to 100Mp and the result would be good as if you shot at 100Mp and downsampled ;) k
