Oh dear, why can't you unsubscribers check the forum instructions...

Go to http://www.rit.edu/~andpph/photoforum.html <http://www.rit.edu/%7Eandpph/photoforum.html> - which takes precisely 30 secs to find and raise via Google (Photoforum + RIT)

And here it is below. But YOU have to do it!!! We can't do it for you as you chose to subscribe. If you don't like this forum go to Yahoo Groups instead and join the Digital Photography Group there. That's all "meat" - of some description!! :-P

SET PhotoForum MAIL DIGEST (for mail in digests = index + text)
SET PhotoForum MAIL DIGEST-NOMIME (as above but not MIME formatted)
SET PhotoForum MAIL POSTPONE (suspends mail delivery temporarily)
SET PhotoForum MAIL ACK (reactivates piecemeal delivery)

QUERY PhotoForum (also returns your list settings)

I don't know how well Linux would work out for a pro really,

Linux works extremely well in pro environments. It runs on the IBM Risc System 6000 servers and there are Linux partions on the large IBM enterprise
systems.

One of my Customers convinced his boss to run Linux on the pc that
monitored the RS6K servers they had. In two years it was down three times,
each for scheduled upgrades......

As for scanners, a friend of mine runs Linux and, if I remember right, his
scanner works well. It took a little doing but he got it running. Next
time I talk with him I'll ask which release of Linux and which scanner,
etc.....
