Download time?
It's really very simple.
Image size is definied by the number of pixels.
However they're arranged - 1 per inch, or 72 per inch, or 300 per
inch - as long as the total pixels is the same the image size will
not change.
Image reolution is defnied by density of pixels per inch. A single
pixel occupying a whole inch is going to be pretty coarse. 300
pixels occupying an inch is going to be quite full of delicate detail.
File size is a function of size x compression. If you have no
compression you get a full sized file. If you use jpeg compression
you get a smaller file but every time you resave after changing the
file you lose information. If you use RAW compression you get a
smaller file without loss. If you use .dmg compression you get a
smaller file without loss.
Up/download speed is a function of file size. If you want to speed
up up/downloading, you either have to make the image size very small
or compress the file.
