Karl hits the nail on the head. The problem is that opening it up in PS added zero information despite making the file look much bigger. The information available in the 56K file was the same as the information available in the PS file. It's important to understand that it was not "un-jpegged", it was just made into a bigger file. There is no way to "un-jpeg" a file - if you start with a compressed file, that is all the information you will ever have.
