I've not used this, but it looks like it has potential.. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_zdpcm/is_200501/ai_n8671169 Microsoft Photo Story 3 (free standalone program from M$) Because of the aspect ratio of photos shot in portrait mode, slide shows always displayed such images with black borders on the sides. Photo Story 3 offers two methods for dealing with this problem. One is cropping a portrait-mode photo to a monitor-friendly 4:3 aspect ratio, though that means cropping away roughly half the image. The other, which we much prefer, is using the powerful new Motion feature for total control over panning and zooming on images. With this feature, you can create a slow pan up or down the length of a portrait photo, using the image's aspect to dramatic advantage. Other new features abound. You can now add text to every image in the slide show, not just to an opening title slide. Where version 2 could only cross-fade between images, version 3 gives you 48 different transitions to choose from. And most fun of all, the program actually generates synthesized music to your specifications. You start by choosing a genre (classical, country, jazz, and so on) and then customize your soundtrack by specifying the style, instrumentation, mood, tempo, and intensity. You can place this music with specific photos, intermingling it with digitized music files as desired ( - cool, copyright infringement issues solved :-) you still need a burner prog to create the DVD though like the freeware Deepburner (www.deepburner.com) k
