> If you get nothing but grief out of your hobby, maybe you need to change hobbies... maybe collecting antique dental equipment ??? >Maybe the lenses need cleaning or you forgot to take off the lens cap. Well it looks like all the anti-dentites are awake. Doc, my own experience with Canon digital has been the same as my own experience with all the other couple of dozen camera brands I've used. They all sucked. Then as luck would have it, as soon as I figured out what I was doing wrong, the quality of their gear improved! The timing was uncanny! I recently acquired the other end of the Canon digital slr spectrum and I expected glory right out of the camera and was thoroughly disappointed. My work doesn't warrant 'L' series lenses but I had the exact same reaction you did. I wanted to go back to film. Then I found out I had to do this and that and that and that and that and sometimes that and this and that and voila! Something I can enjoy! Now life is grand. I don't have to worry about stale chemicals, accurate temperatures, careful timing, water filtering, blah, blah, blah. No it's the life of ease for me. Just point, check white space, check ISO, make sure AF is off, shoot and then download, convert to PSD, re-format memory card, filter noise, adjust curves, dodge, burn, crop, sharpen, load printer profile, print, curse the damn printer, run nozzle check, print again, remove print head and clean then print again, toss printer at wall then drive to Wal-Mart to get prints done.
