> Very nice slide show, Emily!
I tested your site on a 56 (laugh, laugh) K connection.
The background image is quite large. I measure it at 505,440 bytes. You should decrease the file size. I was quite surprised to discover that there was a background image because it took "forever" to load.
Remember that most of us do not have DSL and/or broadband. There are plenty of dial-up users still out there. Many visitors will not wait to see what happens; all they see is the first image, so give them some help. You might consider adding a line under the images: "Please wait for the slide show to load" so people do not leave. Or some such.
The blue color you are using for your copy is far too dark. It all but disappears on my monitor and I had to highlight the text to read it. I tweaked it up a tad and it became easier to read.
Test your site on Opera, IE (several versions) Firefox, and if possible, AOL. At the minimum, several versions of IE and either Opera or Firefox, preferable both. Do not forget Netscape.
I run IE5, and a monitor resolution of 1280x1024 resolution, but some people use a smaller resolution. So change your monitor resolution and see how the site will likely look to the world. Go here: http://www.kturby.com/samples/sizetest.htm
Enter your URL and it the site will show you how the site looks at three common resolutions. You should design for 800x600 There is no login or password required. Just enter your URL.
As for the copyright statement, I am not so sure it is needed. The little "c" in a circle and the date is all you require. If someone wants to appropriate your images, your statement does little good. Actually, neither does the little C in a circle.
Many people do not know what Intellectual property means. Most of the readers of this list do, but then we would probably not steal your images.
If your site is indexed by Google, some people will find your images and never see the warning you posted on your home page. If they want to use your images, chances are, they will.
I do like your layout. Simple and clean. Except on the "landscapes" page, where the three images are not aligned with your logo/banner. Quite a visual jar.
When I was taken to the page after agreeing, I noticed your landscapes "button." It shows a close view of cranberry guy walking in the bog with a rake. In MY PERSONAL OPINION this is a bad image choice because it is really not a landscape image.
