In theory I would agree with you, and it's the reason I post the occasional
photo here (I think I've posted only about two photos in the past 5 years,
now I remember why) except that in practice it's always the same few people
who comment, and if it happens to be a nude, they won't like it.

I hate to prolong this but do want to set the record somewhat straight. I commented on this photo; I usually don't. I happen to like nudes and have never posted a negative review simply because it is a nude. I think the reviews that mention nudity have been in the minority. This comment is just to further the market research aspect of this thread. We have touched personal issues here; let's move on. Dan, I would value a comment from you about my photo involving snow in next week's gallery. And I am not being facetious or sarcastic.

   So from
a market research angle, it doesn't always work.

I know how you feel about nudes and rocks, at least I get them to pose in
uncomfortable positions to add some freshness to the genre!

I like this comment. I think it shows more of the real Dan Cardish. Keep posting and keep commenting. Please.

Several years back I came to the realization that, regardless of what I thought about the photo, the comments here were useful as market research, giving the perspective of people other than me and my immediate circle. That doesn't mean I have to agree, but it does mean I can find out what types of people like and don't like my work.

I have a pretty good handle on that now - I've found that my photographs appeal to specific age, sexual orientation, and location characteristics.

As for the photo, my big problem with it is that I have never understood the nudes and rocks thing.
