I think the newer HP and Canon > printers do decent B/W but the Epson requires ICC profiles for each > paper in order to use OEM inks. I've been pretty happy with the Canons efforts at black and white only when I'm working with a grainy image, other than that there's always been a cast that I've yet to get around. Having said that, the printer is 'dumb' whn it comes to what cartridges it's using so quad-tone inks could be used to replace the colours and my guess would be that it should all work fine - it's been a project of mine, sitting on the back burner now, to muck about withe the inks to make my own quad tones by diluting the black.. hmmm... next week ;-) As to panoramas, I too have heard the little A4 canons can't do them, so I set mine up and selected 'custom paper size' and fed in a sheet 23 inches long x 8 inches and it worked fine! not sure if it could be set to go larger. k
