hahahah ...
The public here are very aware of manipulation now.
One big hoo-hah a few years back followed a front page where a
newspaper cloned out a lady in a wheelchair from a group shot on the
front cover.
Damned if I can find a reference to it on line (anyone remember the
newspaper?)
It wasn't as if she was removed to change the story, she just made the
group look untidy ...

In some ways they are liars but in others they HAVE to be honest (or
at least include comprehensive small print).
If a holiday brochure shows you a photo of the view from the hotel in
which they have cloned out some eyesore they can be sued.  Choosing a
shot in which the eyesore does not appear is safe though.
