Seriously though ... my feelings are,
"If you can't afford to do it right, do something else"

The number of people that now shoot highly compressed / low res images
because they can't afford the media (having spent a fortune on the
camera to "save money") is incredible.   By alll means save as raw -
rather than have the camera save bloated tiffs - but if you wan't the
best, do your best.  If you must do jpeg, save it as absolutely the
maximum quality your system allows and once in your computer do
everything else in lossless Tiff format.
