Yes, and I'm getting closer;
I just did:
dmesg | grep tty
and it found the USB adapter and attached it to USB0

But if I followed your situation, you are using a USB to serial adaptor, is that correct?
meaning it is the TTY USB setting you are providing?

 Meaning that tty 0 equals or that ttyUSB0 equals those settings?
Just tossing out things to consider, as expressed this is not how I manage
 computer hardware.
