I was only made aware of that difference a few days ago when Mauro requested my ACK for the MAINTAINERS update: http://kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/mchehab/v4l-dvb.git;a=commitdiff;h=8d58d773b745950ac912e028b3c81f4902fbf91d I used to work for a company called Convergence integrated media GmbH, which set up linuxtv.org along with directfb.org to release some of their code as GPL'ed projects to the public. After an insolvency the company was bought by Galaxis AG and got renamed to Convergence GmbH. After some more years both Galaxis and Convergence folded (about one year ago). Since then linuxtv.org continues to live as an independent, non-commercial project. No one is getting paid for doing linuxtv.org related work. BTW, I got to be DVB maintainer not because I wanted to, nor because I'm the best guy for the job, but just because I happened to work at Convergence, and no one else seemed to be interested to do it. First Michael Hunold did the job, but after he got married and moved away to a new job he didn't have the time to continue, so I took over. However, I could never be bothered to put my name into MAINTAINERS, I always thought it is best if MAINTAINERS points to a mailing list where all the developers hang out. (Actually, if you grep through the kernel sourced you won't find my name anywhere, as none of the changes I contributed to the drivers were substantial enough that I felt it would be right to add my copyright.) If you look at my presence here on this list for the last few months it is quite obvious that it is time that someone else takes over, and puts on the maintainer hat officially. I suck. Johannes
