OK now - problem solved. The link given in your initial reply was to "ubuntu.packages.com" which resolves to "packages.com", a web site that is filled with links to business sites. The correct address is "packages.ubuntu.com", which works for me. The computer gods are now smiling on me. I will download and install the files. Thanks... Tom.
