Hi,
I am using gentoo linux. The kernel I generally use is compiled from the
gentoo-sources
(http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-kernel.xml#doc_chap2). It's not
automatically generated (genkernel) but manually configuread as I've
been doing it for the last 6 years :-). The kernel I'm using right now
(for the purpose of testing out the driver) is the vanilla kernel
though (version 2.6.25.11) i.e. the official kernel sources fetched
straight from kernel.org. I'll try it out with the latest ALSA driver
now and will let you know wheter I succeeded or not.
kind regards
Mehdi

Hey,
The crash is caused by the version of the ALSA snd-hda-intel.ko driver
that is in use.
I can report that I have NO problems on 2.6.25.16-0.1 using the latest
ALSA 1.0.18RC3 drivers.
After modifying, I issued './configure --with-cards-hda-intel' followed
by 'make' 'make install'. After reboot, loaded the modules and off I went :)
Might I ask which distro you are using?
What is that system's default kernel?
Bjorn.
