I've done some poking on my system (kernel update to 2.6.25.16) and I've noticed that it also segfaults when using the snd-hda-intel.ko built from /usr/src/linux. however, it does not when I use an older version of the module... This suggests some updates/changes that are incompatible. I will look in to it and report as I find more. I will also be sending updated modem driver source code, which has been updated to eliminate the deprecated pci_find_device. Bjorn.
