I already looked at http://www.astro.iag.usp.br/~jfernando , before adding a link.
At this time, in spite of not knowing Portuguese, I found nothing relevant.
So, please Fernando, give notice to discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx when your information will be ready.

Jose,

Glad you solved the problem. Jacques can add this experience into his
Post Install Howto
at http://linmodems.technion.ac.il

Then rather than:
I'll probably put all this work on a tutorial on
my webpage (if you agree), in Portuguese and English, giving you the credits,
 of course.
--------
it would probably be more usefull to translate the HowTo into Portugese

Maybe you have not received this e-mail, as I didn't receive it on the
list, so I'm sending it again. It seems my connection is not too fast as it
was in Fedora Core 6. I'll try another ISP later. The velocity connection is
the line on the wvdial output 'CONNECT 46667', meaning 46.7 kbps, isn't it? If
is it, it should be faster than it seems now.

Hi guys, I'm already writing to you from my new 'linmodem' connection!

Jacques, as you said, the ifconfig was showing one more interface than lo
and ppp0. It was showing virbr0, an ethernet connnection that was
misconfigured on the epoch of my Fedora 7 installation.
The problem was solved by simply getting rid of the line 'search
itelefonica.com.br' on /etc/resolv.conf and replacing 'nameserver
itelefonica.com.br' by simply 'nameserver'. At the end, I hav the following
 /etc/resolv.conf:

 #itelefonica.com.br

nameserver 200.204.0.138
 nameserver 200.204.0.10
 #ig.com.br
 #nameserver 200.225.159.124
 #nameserver 200.225.159.126

Where i have left the '#' lines just to be able to distinguish the ISPs.

Thank you guys, I'll try to follow the same steps when I upgrade to Fedora
8, until the end of the month (probably this week), and I will wait for your
news about Fedora 9, when you be able to deal with this distribution too.

Sorry for my poor English. I'll probably put all this work on a tutorial on
my webpage (if you agree), in Portuguese and English, giving you the credits,
 of course.

In the future, take a look: http://www.astro.iag.usp.br/~jfernando

   Regards,

   Fernando.
