That configuration works better on the host and it is now significantly faster in booting the kernel, too. So far I haven't had any Illegal instruction errors, and QEMU also started up first time round calling it.
However, my guest now runs really slow (even slower than before) - any chance you can also send me the related guest .config? Just to be sure I have the right kernel configuration for that, too.
