I'm assuming folk know that (on a computer at least), most browsers
will zoom, increasing the text size?

Onna Mac under Chrome, Safari and Firefox it is Command-+ (or
Command--). PC people don't have a 'Command' key, but I think they are
available on eBay.
On an iPhone, under Chrome, it is the 'zoom' gesture (like you have
chewing-gum stuck between your thumb and forefinger and are stretching
it!)

This is not a full, or particularly elegant, solution, but figured
worth mentioning.

I don't think the execution is relevant when it was obviously a bad
idea in the first place.
This is like putting rabid weasels in your pants, and later expressing
regret at having chosen those particular rabid weasels and that pair
of pants.
