The construct has been standardized multiple times, going back at least 13 years, is very widely deployed and very heavily used. In other words, it is very fully incorporated into Internet infrastructure services.

In the face of that, any support group that spends its time complaining about the construct is ignoring pragmatics and is, instead, paying attention to other issues.

For a support group, that means the issue is not technology or operations, but rather organizational management.

I'd be glad to assist your employer in helping its support team to reassess its priorities.
