Wrong. Historic in rfc2026 means: A specification that has been superseded by a more recent specification or is for any other reason considered to be obsolete is assigned to the "Historic" level. For example, because rfc2460 is not updated but superseded and formally obsoleted by rfc8200, rfc2460 should be HISTORIC. OTOH, rfc2460 or rfc8200 does not make rfc791 HISTORIC. A far superior and widely deployed alternative does not make the original specification still in use HISTORIC. Masataka Ohta
