You just heard from two people on this list - Keith and Tom - that
things have
changed over time. If you don't believe them, say so in so many words.

From Tom I'm still waiting for a concrete reply. And what Keith says
hints at that this has not been working at one point in the past.

That does *not* mean it's in a constant flux".

But let's assume for a moment that there haven't been any changes. Let me
rephase my question: Would you implement something that depened on browser
file save behavior remaining unchanged long term?

Honestly, right now I see no reason not to. In particular as there's
always curl as a fallback should there ever be a problem.
