I know where the misunderstanding comes from and its all my own fault:
we are not using private IPs on our LANs.  So LAN2->Internet CAN connect
without a proxy, but I don't know how to tell gnugk how to do that.

What I want is:

LAN1   Internet   proxy
LAN1   LAN1       no proxy
LAN1   LAN2       no proxy
LAN2   Internet   no proxy
LAN2   LAN2       no proxy

(The only reason I mentioned the 10.0.0.0 addresses was to indicate that
LAN2 was a subnet of LAN1.  Sorry for the confusion)
