Guys Last year Jan and I had a discussion on how to traverse NATs without requiring proxying of media through GnuGk. Well now its a reality and available open source in GnuGk (in a special) p2pnat branch. The principal is to test the endpoints NATs at registration and have the gatekeeper when placing the call, formulate how the NATs are going to be traversed. It supports multiple gatekeepers and provide some some support to existing H.323 equipment. It should reduce the need to proxy media from the current 100% to IMHO about 5% at most. Please review my powerpoint presentation to the ITU this week on a new H.460 proposal to extend H.460.18/19 (and GnuGk) Nat methods to allow media, if possible, to flow directly between the Nated clients and avoid the need to always proxy media. www.packetizer.com/labs/documents/AVD-3024.ppt The actual draft documents www.packetizer.com/labs/documents/AVD-3024.zip If you want to compile and test The latest snapshot of the p2pnat branch is here http://www.pacphone.com/snapshots/gnugk_p2pnat.zip You will need the OpenH323 plugins branch to compile in the support http://www.pacphone.com/snapshots/openh323_plugins.zip The etc directory contains a sample p2pnat.ini example and instructions. You You can test it with a pre-release of PacPhone (which now also supports Video) softclient for windows. http://www.pacphone.com/downloads/PacPhoneSetup125.exe Enjoy Simon ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
