Well, I reported that bug. In that case, removing NM completely is a workaround. My problem is that I have a specific USB modem (Reliance) which doesn't work with NM. So I have to resort to using wvdial at home but prefer using NM at work and don't want to remove it. If you are not using NM at all, simply removing it is acceptable.
