Once you have that it's easy to also generate a dhcpd.conf from that info to assign static IP:s. This also means you can reinstall the computer and it'll automatically get the right IP address. Or move it to a different network without reconfiguring the computer. And since the DHCP server doesn't need to keep any state when assigning IPs that way you can have as many DHCP servers as you like without caring about syncronizing them, so single point of failure isn't a big problem.
