If you are dealing with the real world with real businesses then you should be aware of the fact that businesses are usually on a 3 - 5 year hw replacement cycle since it save costs as studies like these have found [¹].

After 3 - 5 years those computers are introduced into the re-use/recycle ecosystem and re-purposed elsewhere with the hw vendors being forced to support that cycle.

With 10 years of hw support in fedora it would fit nicely into that cycle.


That said obviously companies will lose that cost saving if they end up having to spend it in a license cost elsewhere, be it Red Hat, Microsoft or something else..
