It's not "about Macs", it's about the installer and its dependencies.
There are other release blocking bugs, and certainly Live images
that don't work are embarrassing, but not being able to install the
system is as bad as it gets.

FWIW, an application included in the Live image that crashes on startup
but has a 0-day update scheduled is a much smaller problem than not
being able to boot the installer, or the installer working as expected.
