You didn't do it properly. Your message has an 'In-Reply-To' header, so
most mail clients will consider it a part of whatever thread it's
marked as being a 'reply' to.

Just hitting reply then backspacing out the Subject line isn't a good
way to start a new thread, because more than just the subject line
indicates a 'reply', in email. Your client does stuff to the message
headers as well as the subject, when you click 'Reply'.
