For KDE, it was just plain impossible to support both 3.5 and 4.0 in the same distribution without violating the FHS. All the other distributions which offer both versions of KDE are installing at least one to a non-FHS prefix. Supporting only 4.0 also meant we could tweak kdelibs3 to integrate better into a KDE 4 environment, e.g. we use the KDE 4 KHelpCenter for help, the KDE 4 DrKonqi if a kdelibs3 app crashes etc. > https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=709681 As I said in another message, it's not systemd's fault if your fstab is invalid.
