I think I agree with Nicolas here. It's true that my focus is on upstream development, but I care about Fedora and try to be a good citizen. Like Nicolas said, the more mature packages don't need much packaging attention anyway. Lets look at cairo: We don't hold even a single cairo patch in Fedora. And here is the ChangeLog from devel: * Fri Nov 21 2008 Matthias Clasen <mclasen@xxxxxxxxxx> 1.8.0-2 - Tweak %%summary and %%documentation * Thu Sep 25 2008 Behdad Esfahbod <besfahbo@xxxxxxxxxx> 1.8.0-1 - Update to 1.8.0 - Update dep versions * Mon Sep 22 2008 Behdad Esfahbod <besfahbo@xxxxxxxxxx> 1.7.6-1 - Update to 1.7.6 * Mon Aug 11 2008 Matthias Clasen <mclasen@xxxxxxxxxx> 1.7.4-1 - Update to 1.7.4 * Wed May 21 2008 Tom "spot" Callaway <tcallawa@xxxxxxxxxx> 1.6.4-3 - fix license tag * Sun May 4 2008 Matthias Clasen <mclasen@xxxxxxxxxx> 1.6.4-2 - Fix source url I'm the owner. What's wrong with working the way we do? Trusting our fellows and just spending time on what really matters, as opposed to, eg, this thread? Why should I orphan my packages if there's nothing wrong with the way I attend to them, even if that means almost no time spent on them and zero RPM knowledge? Finally, again, I agree with Nicolas. You are discounting the value of having the upstream maintainer or developer keep an eye on the Fedora package. I blame Ubuntu on a regular basis for pushing bogus patches in their packages. Fedora core packages have a much higher quality compare to Ubuntu, and I like to believe that it's because many of those packages are maintained by their upstream maintainers. YMMV. behdad -- fedora-devel-list mailing list fedora-devel-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-devel-list
