I don't remember the piece that had the bug (pjones would know) but the workaround was simple: go into the system BIOS and turn on the EFI boot menu instead of using grub2. Windows was in the EFI boot menu and could be booted from there; I think there was an entry in the EFI boot menu for Fedora too.
