Hello, yes, pipx is the way recommended by Debian and its forks, including UM. However, in order for an application to be installable by pipx, it first needs to be packaged for it, what's unfortunately not the case with ocrdesktop. I wonder whether it actually could be done, since ocrdesktop is not quite standalone Python app, it requires a few dependencies like tesseract that need to be installed via the distribution's package manager. It's something that could be worth looking into in the future, though, right now I've chosen a faster and simpler approach, where a venv environment is created and simply provided as a runtime. It's not particularly slick, but I doubt a pipx installation would be either, this is the choice of dependency problems vs. containers, size vs. order.
