Choosing an email client

Have you looked at the mail agent called pine? It's probably on your
system already. It has a built-in editor that wraps lines and fills
text automatically. The right margin can be set in pine's
configuration file. It can check spelling. It will decode and save
all mime attachments. Html email can be rendered as text. Also, pine
can be configured to have a default url viewer such as lynx. Finally,
pine will mark messages as 'deleted', but not remove them unless you
expung.

You're right; fetchmail does the retrieval from pop3 mailboxes.

Once you start pine, there's plenty of on-line help. Also, the
configuration file is a heavily-commented text file.

Good Luck,

Dave
