Dear Kurokawa, Thanks for your answers to my queries. I would like to know more about the Licensing conditions from Renesas, before thinking of the option to download their Graphic Binary and Driver. If you/anyone
in the mailing list has used their Graphic Binary and Driver, could you throw some light on their conditions, especially - 1. If one intends to use their
Graphic Binary and Driver for developing applications, do they provide it for free for some time say as an evaluation period? 2. Do they charge any licensing fee for using the Graphic Binary and Driver only for development purpose? 3. If there is any intent of production, do they also have a royalty fee? I am aware that they would have different Licensing and Royalty Agreements based on the Volume from customers under Confidentiality conditions, my intention
is to get some idea and experience from the people who are using the same. Any help is much appreciated! Regards, P. M. Kulkarni On Monday, 20 August, 2018, 7:34:28 PM IST, HARUNOBU KUROKAWA <harunobu.kurokawa.dn@xxxxxxxxxxx>

H3 has 4 channels of Bus Controller, M3 has 2 channel, etc... & H3 Starter Kit has 4GB memory of DDR, M3 has 2GB DDR. A2) YES!
Notice: If you have H3 ws1.1, it is not support latest AGL(https://elinux.org/R-Car/Boards/H3SK#Limitation) A3) YES. Starter Kit is default board and AGL support it. Kingfisher is optional board. No mandatory if you use simple
application. A4) YES. Be careful, you should be enable kernel config for your USB dongle, like as it. A5) YES. You can find license terms and conditions page when you download graphics binary and driver. Please observe
the license agreement. Best regards Kurokawa. From:

Hi all,
I have recently joined AGL and gone through some of its documentation. I would like to know some information about the Renesas M3 starter Kit which is being
used as a Reference BSP by AGL.
1. Other
than the h/w feature and performance superiority of Renesas H3 over Renesas M3 starter Kit, are there any specific advantages of using the H3 over M3 from AGL’s perspective considering ease of support for h/w, ease of supporting future high end applications
etc.
2. I
presume that both of these kits shall be supported by AGL for their future releases.
3. Other
than supporting in-vehicular network (CAN, MOST etc.) + WiFi + FM radio support + camera features which is possible through using the Kingfisher extension board, I presume both the M3 and H3 starter kits should suffice for a simple, standalone Infotainment
application with reasonably good audio o/p (HP) and audio i/p (microphone). Is this understanding correct?
4. Do
the latest AGL releases, EE onwards support Wi-Fi using WiFi-USB dongles on M3 and H3 starter kit boards?
5. The
AGL WiKi documentation “agl-distro” mentions about a “Note 1 : …… A
full M3 ULCB binary is unavailable due to Renesas License restrictions on the graphics driver……”. Other than the need to register to Renesas web-site to
download these drivers, are there any License restrictions for its use in development on M3, H3 starter kit platforms? Can you please elaborate on the same?
Regards,
P. M. Kulkarni |
