Well, who wants to use Konqueror might install it. However, it is so true, that KDE in standard installation has a tonof unnecessary software which could be left out for people to install it, if they are interested.That would help the simplicity.
I agree. I know I want Konqueror, I know how to install it. I wouldn't be offended, or even inconvenienced if it wasn't installed by default.
As a web browser it is very redundant.
