As I type this, I'm watching HD video that was captured from a USB DTV tuner via a Raspberry Pi's USB port. (During video recording, the stream was sent back out the network port while it was coming in via USB.) If the Raspberry Pi can handle HD video, it should be able to handle the vast majority of audio tasks.
