Hi Mark, I did a 'sudo lsmod | grep snd' &... I noticed that my mia was referred to as 'snd_mia' rather than 'snd-mia' as you stated. In other words... underscore (_) rather than dash (-), & it produced these results of various inquires (the - - - - - - - > are to distinguish different sets of commands in the terminal) : - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - > snd_mia 31652 0 snd_pcm_oss 42144 0 snd_intel8x0 35356 4 snd_ac97_codec 101028 1 snd_intel8x0 snd_mixer_oss 17920 1 snd_pcm_oss ac97_bus 3072 1 snd_ac97_codec snd_pcm 78596 5 snd_mia,snd_pcm_oss,snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec snd_seq_dummy 4868 0 snd_seq_oss 35584 0 snd_seq_midi 9376 0 snd_rawmidi 25760 2 snd_mia,snd_seq_midi snd_seq_midi_event 8320 2 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi snd_seq 54224 6 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_midi_event snd_timer 24836 2 snd_pcm,snd_seq snd_seq_device 9612 5 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq snd 56996 19 snd_mia,snd_pcm_oss,snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq,snd_timer,snd_seq_device soundcore 8800 1 snd snd_page_alloc 11400 3 snd_mia,snd_intel8x0,snd_pcm henry@henry-heron:~$ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - > :~$ lsmod | grep snd_mia snd_mia 31652 0 snd_pcm 78596 5 snd_mia,snd_pcm_oss,snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec snd_rawmidi 25760 2 snd_mia,snd_seq_midi snd 56996 19 snd_mia,snd_pcm_oss,snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq,snd_timer,snd_seq_device snd_page_alloc 11400 3 snd_mia,snd_intel8x0,snd_pcm henry@henry-heron:~$ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -> :~$ sudo lsmod | grep snd_mia snd_mia 31652 0 snd_pcm 78596 5 snd_mia,snd_pcm_oss,snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec snd_rawmidi 25760 2 snd_mia,snd_seq_midi snd 56996 19 snd_mia,snd_pcm_oss,snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq,snd_timer,snd_seq_device snd_page_alloc 11400 3 snd_mia,snd_intel8x0,snd_pcm - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -> :~$ modprobe snd_mia - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - > :~$ lsmod | grep snd_mia snd_mia 31652 0 snd_pcm 78596 5 snd_mia,snd_pcm_oss,snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec snd_rawmidi 25760 2 snd_mia,snd_seq_midi snd 56996 19 snd_mia,snd_pcm_oss,snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq,snd_timer,snd_seq_device snd_page_alloc 11400 3 snd_mia,snd_intel8x0,snd_pcm henry@henry-heron:~$ aplay -D/snd_mia ALSA lib pcm.c:2145:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM /snd_mia aplay: main:546: audio open error: No such file or directory - - - - - - - - - - - - - - > So, not sure where this leaves us... but it does look like there is more data... perhaps you (or any one with some insights or ideas) can comment & help interpret towards doing the correct procedure to enable an MiaMIDI connect? As usual, thanks, Henry p.s. will this bring me closer to finding the correct (possible) firmware update?
