Can not start X Window

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

I have a trouble that cannot start up the X Window system in the environment of the RedHat 7.2 Linux with Matrox MGA G450; i.e. the system abnormally stop to enter 'startx.' The system prompts again.

Formerly, the system worked well, but, suddenly it could not show the X Window system.

The hard disk consists of the Windows2000, TurboLinux 7 and RedHat Linux, launched by the System commander7 through the master boot record.

It seems to be strange that others like Windows2000 and Turbo linux 7 have worked well in any processes still now. The Redhat 7.2 Linux doesn't work in X Window.

The attached below are the part of the XF86Config file and the X window start up log as a whole that you suggested to send. According to follows, X Window does apparently not work now with MGA G450.

The questions are following. Your kind response will deeply be appreciated.

1. What is the "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libvgahw.a ?" I could not read the content through a text editor.

2. How do I modify the XF86Config for the Screen section to recover from the following message
'(EE) MGA(0): No Display subsection in Screen section "Screen0" for depth/fbbpp 8/8.'

3. Only the root user can see and access the /tmp region. Why this happens?

I look forward to obtaining your kind suggestion.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Kind regards,

R. Kouda
