Michael,
	I have made some headway. Running glxgears sometimes does NOT hang X and I 
get a frame rate of 2100-2300 f/sec. GL apps still hang X or crash if I push 
them. I'm running a beta of Pro_Engnieer (CAD application) that has recently 
been ported to *nix., and rotating or zooming a view very quickly commonly 
either crashes the app or locks the x-session.
	 The box is running Elx Power Desktop, Very much like RedHat with the stock 
2.4.17-3elx kernel. I installed NVIDIA_kernel from tar ball and installed 
NVIDIA_GLXfrom rpm. Both the tar ball and the rpm are version 1.0-3123
Below are my XF86Config-4 and XFree86.log agpgart is not loadedI've been told 
not to and as a matter of fact, insmodding agpgart and then runnig gears 
immediately and always hangs the box.
