Version 4.2 works fine as well, Iīve only tested NV4 Cards with "closed
source" driver from NVidia on Suse 8.0 and a Matrox G550 which run,
totally 
unexpecected out of the Box, also on Suse 8.0.
Matrox HP mentoined that all Cards G400 to G500 are in need of Matrox
supplied Driver to enable DVI.
I donīt have currently the possibility to test ATI Cards.
This may take several weeks until I can do that.

But ATI is also offering plenty of information about driver for Linux
pls take look at:
