PhD opportunity at the Institute of Petrology and Structural Geology, Charles University in Prague.

 

A PhD research topic in Experimental Petrology entitled “Heterovalent elements in apatite as proxies for the oxidation state of magmas” is available at the Institute of Petrology and Structural Geology, Charles University in Prague, under the supervision of Dr Alessandro Fabbrizio. Abstract of the projectonline application form, and additional information are available at the link http://www.stars-natur.cz The experimental work will include piston-cylinder experiments performed at the Earth Science Department of La Sapienza University (Roma, Italy) in collaboration with Prof. Mario Gaeta. Analytical work (SEM, EMPA, LA-ICP-MS) will be done at Charles University. Previous experience in experimental petrology is not needed but a solid background in petrology/geochemistry/mineralogy is required. The first year salary will be around 14500 CZK (tax exempted) with the possibility to increase in the following years depending on availability of funding. To give an idea of the living cost, the monthly rent in the University dormitories is around 5000 CZK.

 

Deadline for online application is March 16, 2018 and the expected starting date is October 1, 2018.
