Dear colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to the EGU Galileo Conference “Exploring new frontiers in fluid processes in subduction zones” that will be held in Hotel Schloss Seggau (http://www.seggau.com/en/), Leibnitz near Graz (Austria) in June 24-29th 2018.

The main goal of the conference is to bring together scientist from different fields of expertise to discuss topics related to fluid-mediated mass transfer and recycling in subduction zones. The conference is intended to serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas and to nurture scientific opportunities for future collaboration between participants (https://www.egu-galileo.eu/gc4-subduction/).

We aim at bringing together leading scientist, and the future players, in the fields of experimental/theoretical fluid geochemistry, thermodynamics, petrology and geodynamics. The conference is organized around keynote talks that will review the state of knowledge in each of the themes to stimulate discussions, invited talks, poster sessions and break-out discussion sessions to maximize the interactions between participants (max. 70 attendees). The conference also includes one day field trip to the Pohorje region in Slovenia (optional).

*The main themes of the conference are:*

Theme 1: Experimental/theoretical studies of fluid properties – the fluids perspective
Theme 2: Natural observations – the rock perspective
Theme 3: Thermodynamic modelling of fluid-rock interactions – the equilibrium perspective
Theme 4: Coupling geochemistry and geodynamics – the dynamic perspective

*Confirmed keynote and invited speakers:*

Ronit Kessel (The Hebreum University, Israel)
Marco Scambelluri (University of Genova, Italy)
Dimitri Sverjensky (John Hopkins University, USA)
Cian Wilson (DTM, USA)

Baptiste Debret (Universite Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium)
Katy Evans (Curtin University, Australia)
Sandro Jahn (University of Cologne, Germany)
Horst Marschall, University of Frankfurt (Germany)
Carla Tiraboschi (University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy)
Hans Vrijmoed, Freie Universitaet Berlin (Germany)

*Important notes:*

- Please submit an abstract of your contribution (oral or poster presentation) by February 25.
- Participation is limited to 70 attendees on first come first serve basics, registration closes March 23.
- Registration fees include housing and meals.

Visit the conference website for additional information and registration:

We are looking forward seeing you in Graz.  Apologies for multiple postings.

Best regards
