Dear colleagues,
We invite you to submit an abstract to the session VI.3 Application of geological mapping and field surveys to different exploitation contexts
(geothermal and ore deposits) <http://iavcei2017.org/ses_VI3
2017.
Deadline for abstract submission is March 17, 2017
This session, under the aegis of the IAVCEI Commission on Volcano Geology, will highlight the importance of field geology in relation with the finding and quantification of earth resources. In particular, volcanological and field-based surveys are of upmost importance for geothermal and ore exploration and exploitation activities. The session want to stress that the contribution of volcano geology to finding, predicting and quantifying geothermal and ore resources is crucial both in the early exploratory stages, and in planning and implementing exploitation strategies and resource fields modelling. Therefore, contributions on chrono-stratigraphy, mapping and physico-chemical characterization of volcanic deposits in geothermal and mining areas and contributions illustrating such integrated themes in historical case-studies, and as part of projects currently running are particularly welcome.
In addition, consider that the Geological Society of London offers the possibility to produce a volume, has an agreement with IAVCEI, where publications arising from IAVCEI activities can be published in GSL series with the IAVCEI logo on the cover and IAVCEI will receive a fee.
