For further information, feel free to contact us

We hope to see you in Prague

Description

2nd Workshop on Volcano Geology

The 2nd workshop on Volcano Geology, hosted by IUGG meeting, is the ideal prosecution of the first one, held in Madeira (Portugal) in July 2014. It also represents the occasion to present the program and the scopes of the new IAVCEI commission on volcano geology.
The workshop will be focused on discussing the state of the art and perspectives of geological studies in volcanology, which are the baseline for the understanding of volcanic activity behaviour, and the ultimate data against which to validate any numerical simulation.
The workshop will be paced by some introductory invited lectures on selected topics, which will lead and guide the discussion:
- stratigraphic units (lithostratigraphy, UBSU, lithosomatic and eruptive units)
- tephrostratigraphy
- thematic maps
- tectonic structures of volcanic system and volcano-tectonics
- geological maps and data for the hazard assessment
- general discussion including also future of the IAVCEI Commission on Volcano Geology, guidelines to be prepared by the IAVCEI Commission, and 3rd Volcano Geology workshop

For the participants that would present some specific themes for the general discussion, a limited space will be reserved by the scientific committee, at which any specific request needs to be addressed.
