Big Ideas in Volcanology

As part of an effort in a Graduate Volcanology Class offered this past semester, we want to share with you a start on a new web effort that aims to define the "Big Ideas in Volcanology".
This idea came from an effort by the Earth Science Literacy Initiative. We hope to define some ideas from volcanology that need to be discussed more broadly, ideas that are currently scientifically relevant.  The purpose is to broaden volcanology and improve it, while communicating its important ideas.  We have set up the class effort as a crude first step, and are hoping for the comments and discussion of the whole volcanology community. The website is still quite crude, made up of parts done by different people. We present it as a work in progress.
Please visit our website and leave your comments and suggestions through the VHub Group called "Big Ideas of Volcanology" a group open to all.
Looking forward to your comments and discussion---is this something worth pursuing? What big ideas are misguided, misrepresented or omitted?
Cheers
