This position is funded by a NERC standard grant, and will involve close interaction with researchers in Oxford, Belgium and Chile. The work will involve building a regional tephra-stratigraphy from lake core and other samples, and will be used to place important constraints on rates of volcanic activity in southern Chile since the end of the last glaciation. We seek a talented and enthusiastic individual who is keen to work in a dynamic research team. Candidates should have research experience, and possess a Bachelors degree in a relevant area and a PhD in volcanology, tephrochronology or a related discipline (applications will be accepted from candidates who have a Bachelors/Masters degree in a relevant area and who are close to completing their doctorate/submitting their thesis).
