The University of Auckland invites applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position in Natural Hazard and Risk Analysis and Modelling in the School of Environment, Faculty of Science.
Applicants should hold a PhD in Volcanology or Seismology or a related hazards field and possess in depth knowledge of natural hazard and risk analysis and modelling and its application to geo-hazards risk reduction. Evidence of an ability to attract research funding, publish in leading peer-reviewed journals, build research collaborations, a willingness to engage with government and industry, teach in an earth science programme at all levels and supervise postgraduate students is highly desirable.
Although this position will be based in School of Environment there will be an expectation that for the first three years of the appointment the successful applicant will work on a 0.5 FTE basis (50% time commitment) with the Institute of Earth Sciences and Engineering on the Volcanic Risk in Saudi Arabia (VORISA) project. The remaining time will be spent developing a research programme and teaching and postgraduate research supervision portfolio in the School of Environment.
